The Australasian Palliative Care Training Organisation

Training with the Organisation

High Standards
The Organisation provides high standard career-level training within your financial and academic reach. Vocational education, by its nature, needs to be of a high standard; so when the Organisation developed its Training courses it decided to set a high, yet attainable, standard. This was in response to the many people who contacted the Organisation disillusioned with the lack of Palliative Care Training available to the average person who was either called upon to assist a family member in a palliative situation or who wanted to be able to assist others or themselves should this situation arise. It was also motivated by the determination to assist the dying with the respect it deserves; instead of treating it as just another modality or an extra certificate to collect.

Accreditation
The APCTO's Trainers Course is accredited with the Australasian Palliative Care Training Organisation. This will indicate that you have been trained to a standard, giving you a competitive edge in the palliative care industry.

Learn to Teach
The Organisation aims at making the difference in the quality of your teaching by instilling in you the confidence to teach well. By learning to teach workshops, the time between finishing your training and starting to make a living is dramatically reduced.

Skills Acquisition
An enduring aspect of training with the Organisation is that you acquire new skills as well as enhancing your current skills. You don't just end up with a certificate. The skills learnt in this course are applicable in all aspects of your life and any other career you may be pursuing now or wish to pursue in the future.

Convenience
The Organisation's training courses are offered throughout Australia. The Palliative Care and Conscious Dying 2 day Workshop (RAA) and the Palliative Care and Conscious Dying 1 day Workshop (RAA - Intensive) for which there is no pre-requisite, is available to anyone with an interest in palliative care.  The RAA 2 Day Workshop is the only pre-requisite to the 'One Week Intensive Training Program' for those interested in becoming a Palliative Care and Conscious Dying Workshop Facilitator.

Subjects covered in the 'One Week Intensive Program' are also offered as individual self-paced 'Distant Learning' units for those with an interest in a specific area.

Personal Development
The course assists you with your personal growth. The training material supplied has been compiled as a result of studying many books and through participation in many personal development workshops and seminars.

On-going Support
As well as personal and business-level support, the Organisation will provide you with access to high quality teaching materials (such as workbooks, pre-blended essential oils, music etc.). Furthermore, the Organisation is committed to keeping current with trends in Palliative Care and will pass on any information gathered.
